Membership Information

What is SurveySpot?

Answer: SurveySpot works with marketing research companies all over the world, helping them find out what consumers think about products, ideas, and issues of the day. This is your opportunity to convey your views!

Do I have to pay anything to join?

Answer: No! SurveySpot membership is free. We will never ask you for money, or try to sell you anything. We are only interested in your opinions.

Can other members of my household also join SurveySpot?

Answer: We’re sorry, but we only allow one email address per household to join SurveySpot. The member who joins should be the person who wants to take the most surveys. The good news is that other members of your family can still take surveys! Some invitations ask for the participation of other household members – the details are always in the invitation.

What happens after I join?

Answer: After you join the SurveySpot panel, we will send you an email welcoming you to the panel. After that, we'll periodically send you survey invitations via email. This email will contain all of the information you need in order to participate.

Members Area

Do I need a password?

Answer: You don’t need a password to be a SurveySpot member or to take surveys, but you will need one in order to enter the Member’s Area – where you can claim your rewards and update your information. Every panelist will receive a default password upon sign-up. If you've forgotten your password, simply click on the 'forgot password' link on the top right hand corner of the page, and you'll receive your password via email. Be sure to login and reset your password to something you'll easily remember.
Please note: Any rewards you may be eligible to receive will post to your account immediately after taking the survey – regardless of whether you’ve setup your password or not.

How can I update my information?

Answer: You can change and update your account information (email address, password, mailing address, household information) by logging into SurveySpot’s Secure Member’s Area.

How do I unsubscribe from SurveySpot?

Answer: We’re sorry to lose you, but if you have to go we’ve made it quick and easy for you to unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe by logging into SurveySpot’s Secure Member’s Area, and clicking on unsubscribe.

Taking Surveys

How much time will this take?

Answer: The average survey will take around 15-20 minutes to complete, and the questions are typically easy to answer.

Do I need a password to take surveys?

Answer: Occasionally a SurveySpot survey may require a password or a username. This will be a different password from the one you use to access the Member’s Area on the SurveySpot site, and will be provided in the email invitation.

Why was the survey closed when I went to take it?

Answer: Occasionally surveys fill up more quickly than we expect, and we apologize if a survey was closed before you could take it. In general, you can expect a survey to remain in the field for a period of 3 – 5 days.

Why don’t I qualify for some surveys?

Answer: Researchers want to hear from people of different ages, income levels, ethnicities, regions of the country, etc. If many people from a certain group or region have taken the survey, the researcher may not be able to accept more responses from that group. We try to send the right number of invitations to make sure this doesn’t happen, but sometimes the response from our loyal panel members is greater than we expect, so we have to turn away some people.

I’m seeing a can’t find panelist error message – what is that?

Answer: This message may appear if you try to access a survey using a different email address than the one you used when you registered at SurveySpot. If you see this message, please confirm your email address (the one you used when registering) when prompted to do so.

I click on the Take a Survey button, but I'm not able to see any surveys.

Answer: In order to take a SurveySpot survey, you will need to login to the website. In order to login, simply enter your email address and password at the top of the site.

Rewards

Will I get paid for this?

Answer: For every survey you take, you will receive one entry into SurveySpot’s quarterly cash sweepstakes, where one lucky recipient will win $25,000 in cash! SurveySpot panelists are also provided the opportunity to play the Instant Win game in order to obtain additional sweepstakes entries or other prizes at the end of every survey. Some surveys also include points for panelists who successfully qualify for and complete the entire study. If you do qualify for and complete a study that offers points, the reward is posted to your SurveySpot members account immediately after completing the survey. Specific reward information will always be described in the survey invitation.

Do I need a PayPal account?

Answer: Yes. Some SurveySpot surveys will offer points for all respondents who qualify and complete the entire survey. The survey invitation will identify whether or not a particular survey offers points. As soon as you reach the claim threshold of 1000 points, you can request payment via PayPal. SurveySpot will make a deposit into the PayPal account that matches the email address used when registering with SurveySpot.

How do the points work?

Answer: Not every survey offers points. Select SurveySpot surveys will offer a point incentive for respondents who qualify for and complete the entire study. The survey invitation will identify whether or not a particular survey offers points. If you qualify for and complete a study which offers points, the points are deposited into your SurveySpot Member’s Account as soon as you finish that survey opportunity. As soon as you reach the claim threshold of 1000 points, you can request payment via PayPal. Payment will be added to the PayPal account you use for your SurveySpot correspondence.

How will I know if I won an Instant Win Prize?

Answer: If you win a prize other than sweepstakes entries in the Instant Win game, you will be immediately directed to our reward partner’s site for confirmation. Once confirmed, your name will also be posted on our winners list. The winners list is updated approximately every two weeks. All Instant Win prize winners are paid electronically, either through PayPal or an electronic Amazon gift card – your choice! All prizes are sent within 4-6 weeks from the time you won.

How will I know if I’ve won the quarterly sweepstakes?

Answer: If you win a quarterly sweepstakes, you will be notified via mail by our rewards partner (Promotions), with the details of your win.

Where can I see a list of prize winners?

Answer: The list of prize winners is updated here approximately every two weeks. Please note, that all prize winners have already been confirmed with our rewards partner prior to being posted on our site.

I’m having problems with the Instant Win game – what do I do?

Where can I view the number of entries I have in the sweepstakes?

Answer: Currently the sweepstakes is managed by our reward partner, and we’re unable to indicate the number of entries you’ve accrued on the SurveySpot website. We’re looking to make many changes to the SurveySpot website throughout 2009, and will look to provide our members access to this information. Thanks for your patience!

Why am I unable to claim my rewards?

Answer: You will need to have at least 1000 points in your SurveySpot members account in order to redeem them for cash via PayPal. If you have less than 1000 points, or have claimed in excess of $600 in a calendar year without submitting your W-9 form, you will not be able to redeem your points.

What will happen to my old cash incentives?

Answer: If you had cash rewards in our old system, (or are expecting rewards to be added to your old account in the near future), you will be able to access and claim the reward in the form of a check. Once an unclaimed reward is in our former system, a link to our old redemption system will be present in the members area of SurveySpot. Simply login to your account, click on the 'Claim Rewards' tab, and follow the instructions. ** If you do not see a link on the 'Claim Rewards' page, then you do not have any available rewards in the old system.

Privacy

What will you do with my personal information?

Answer: We use your email address to send you invitations to participate in new surveys and to contact you with messages about the SurveySpot panel. Our research clients will never receive personally identifiable information about our panel members, nor will they be able to identify panel members without your express permission.

PayPal

How does it work?

Answer: Your points are turned into cash and can be collected via PayPal, for further information visit PayPal Information.

1. If you don’t have a PayPal account: Go to www.paypal.com and click on ‘Sign-up’. Be sure to Use your SurveySpot member e-mail address when you enter your details.

2. You have a PayPal account, but with a different e-mail address: You can add your SurveySpot member e-mail address to your existing account!

* Please note that if you do not yet have a PayPal account or if your PayPal account is configured to accept every payment manually you will have a maximum of 30 days to accept the payment. After a maximum of 30 days the payment expires and will be returned to SurveySpot.

I have a PayPal account under a different email address, is this a problem?

Answer: All point redemption transactions will utilize the PayPal account which matches the email address used for your SurveySpot correspondence. If you already have a PayPal account existing under an email address that is different from the one you used when registering with SurveySpot, you can simply add an email address to your existing account. Click on “Log in” followed by “profile” / “email” / “add”. This way, you can add up to seven extra email addresses to any existing PayPal account.

How will I know when SurveySpot has sent a payment to my PayPal account?

Answer: Once you reach the minimum redemption threshold of 1000 points, you are eligible to request payment via PayPal. As soon as you request payment, we begin processing this request. When the funds have been added to your PayPal account, you will receive a notification directly from PayPal. This email will indicate the amount of money that was added to your account, and also provide a transaction ID for future reference.

How can I sign up for PayPal?
